Greater Dickson Gas Authority has two positions available:

Propane Delivery Driver and Tank-setter

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Propane Delivery Driver and Tank-setter delivers Propane to customers; reads propane/natural meters; completing and pricing delivery tickets from route book; operates tank truck – setting propane tanks; installs piping and regulator systems; services appliances; instructs customer on operating appliances and trouble-shoots problems on natural/propane gas appliances installed in GDGA’s customer homes or business; may perform construction and customer installations as needed; participation in special projects as assigned; and performing related service duties requiring a high degree of skill and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a Class B or greater Commercial Drivers License for a minimum of one (1) year and must have a state of Tennessee issued Commercial Drivers License within ninety (90) days after hire
  • Ability to acquire Hazardous and Tanker endorsements within ninety (90) days after hire
  • Must have a valid health card or ability to get one within ninety (90) days after hire
  • Technology aptitude (computer/tablet/iPad/smartphone, etc.)
  • The ability to communicate verbally person to person
  • The ability to read and understand printed material
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Ambulatory

 SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Knowledge of and ability to use small & large hand tools (ex. shovels, picks, locators and leak detection devices)
  • Ability to lift or help lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis (ex. setting concrete blocks)
  • Ability to troubleshoot customer appliance problems
  • Ability to instruct customer how to detect the odor of propane (in case of a leak)
  • Carrying such articles as computer printouts, tablets (ipad), and small tools
  • Ability to complete daily paperwork in a timely manner
  • Physical stamina to work consistently for an eight-hour day, and possibly overtime
  • Ability to perform repetitive task on a regular basis
  • Accept supervision from a number of persons
  • Conducts behavior and appearance at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on customer’s perception of The Greater Dickson Gas Authority
  • Provides coverage in absence of other personnel
  • Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions and frequent interruptions.
  • Attend schools, training sessions & seminars to fulfill assigned job responsibilities
  • Ability to weed eat, mop, sweep etc.
  • Required to perform scheduled on call after hours duties and emergency after-hours response
  • Other duties as assigned by GDGA Management

 

Construction Technician

Position Overview:

The Construction Technician conducts a variety of work on customer service, construction, maintenance, and propane at Greater Dickson Gas Authority. It involves work on a broad range of different activities in the Operations department, such as: service lines, main lines, industrial meter stations, district regulatory stations, leak repairs etc. that will maintain the proper operation and safety of the natural gas system as required by the Department of Transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
Required to obtain Class A CDL in a timely manner.
The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively.
The ability to orally communicate by phone or person to person.
The ability to see/read money and/or printed material.
The ability to make decisions under pressure.
Ambulatory.
On call after hours duty one week at a time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Knowledge of and ability to use small hand tools
Ability to lift or help lift up to 100lbs.
Physical stamina to work consistently for an eight-hour day, and possibly overtime
Stock trucks for jobs
Installing and checking meters
Read and paint meters
Ability to perform repetitive task on a regular basis
Accept supervision from a number of persons
Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions and frequent interruptions
Attend schools, training sessions & seminars to fulfill assigned job responsibilities
Assist in performing maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment etc.
Ability to weed eat, mop, sweep etc.
